Cwmbran Shopping was packed tonight as shoppers turned out in their thousands to see the Christmas lights turned on. DJ Matt Lissack did the countdown from Gwent Square.
This year shoppers were encouraged to watch the switch on from around the town centre. Young musicians from local schools and Gwent Music Support Service were performing at different locations. The clown Dingle Fingle was popular along with Darth Vader who was had his photo taken with lots of people. John Adams, who sang on X Factor in 2011 and used to teach at Fairwater High School sang a few songs.
The photo below of the Water Gardens doesn’t do it justice. It was packed with young people entertaining the crowds who were overlooking from all sides.
Santa’s Grotto has been built by the Water Gardens and children can meet him for £3 right up until Christmas. Check Cwmbran Shopping’s website for when the Grotto is open.
