The Christmas lights in Cwmbran are being switched on tonight.

Cwmbran Shopping’s Christmas lights are being switched on tonight (Wednesday 20 November) at 6pm. The family fun starts at 5pm.

Capital FM’s Matt Lissack will be in Gwent Square and choirs and live music will entertain shoppers at different locations in the town. Visit Cwmbran Shopping’s website for the full timetable of what’s happening and where.

Highlights include:

Monmouth Square- 5.45pm Dingle Fingle – multi-talented children’s entertainer

Gwent Square- 6pm- Matt Lissack will switch the lights on.  Communal sing song – We Wish You A Merry Christmas

Monmouth Square- 6pm- The lights switch on and Santa and his elves join in the sing song and invite all children to visit their Christmas Grotto.

Gwent Square- 6.45pm Join the finale of Cwmbran Shopping’s car competition. One of our 4 fabulous finalists will win a Nissan Micra from Newtown Motors. We also have 3 fantastic runner up prizes. Have you got your entry in?

Monmouth Square- Capital FM Street Stars are giving away tickets to their Jingle Bell Ball at London’s O2 arena. Win a ticket and you will see Jessie J, Lady Gaga and a host of other stars or win an instant prize from their stack of Christmas giveaways in their ‘Guess the star smile’ competition.

The Arcade- 6pm onwards- Join the fairytale folk from Congress Youth Theatre for a photo in front of their Pantomime forest.

Talented youngsters from Gwent Music Support Service and local primary schools will be playing instruments around the town during the evening.

If you can’t visit Santa’s Grotto on this evening remember he will be there on various dates and times right up until Christmas Eve in Monmouth Square. The list of dates can be found on Cwmbran Shopping’s website.

Late night shopping starts tonight at continues every Wednesday and Thursday until 8pm.
