A Torfaen family are making one last push to sell party tickets and collect raffle prize donations to support the Tiny Tickers charity.
Ten-month-old Chester Evans, from Blaenavon, was born at The Grange University Hospital with a complex congenital heart defect.
His mum and dad, Kristy Evans and Ben Osment have organised a masquerade ball to raise money for a charity (Tiny Tickers) that helps nurses increase their skills when doing pregnancy scans.
It’s been a challenging year for Chester and his family.
Kristy told Cwmbran Life that her son had heart failure a week before he was six-months-old.
She said: “He’s an incredible little boy. He’s had heart failure, open-heart surgery and battled sepsis.”
He was kept in hospital for two months before he was allowed home.
‘Roast dinner’
Kristy added: “And now his favourite meal is roast dinner, bless him. He’s a really, really happy baby. He’s amazing. But it’s all being managed with the meds.”
The surgeon told the family, “he’d never seen a heart like Chester’s before.”
Chester will eventually need mechanical heart valves and further open-heart surgery.
The masquerade ball is on Saturday 15 November in the Maes Manor Hotel in Blackwood and includes a three-course meal, a prize for the best mask, raffle and a DJ.
