Talented trio The Three O’Clock Club were playing ‘The Way You Make Me Feel’ as we walked out of The Farmer’s Table at Greenmeadow Community Farm on Friday 14 August and onto the seating area.
‘Sundowners & Sliders’ was definitely about the ‘feels’. I was kindly gifted two tickets (£5 each) and accepted; I was curious to see the farm in a new light- not your usual walking around checking out the animals kind of experience or popping in to meet a mate for a coffee.
We sneaked onto the empty side of a picnic bench being used by a couple who were far more used to outdoor music events like this than us- they had brought their own picnic chairs- neatly folded up next to the table just in case it was too busy.
The night was organised by Kilted Dragon Distillery, who served up a range of their alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks made a few hundred metres away at their unit on Springvale Industrial Estate.
The acoustic band kept up the perfect ‘feels’ all evening. My friends know I’m tone deaf when it comes to music, but I’m good at feeling – and the volume, unique take on familiar songs and banter with the audience felt right all night.
Moonwalk
A group of children loved the music and hit the dance floor, with one young girl making her entrance with a stunning sliding moonwalk that almost made me jump up, point and scream: “Did you see that!” It was some feat on concrete.
It didn’t go unnoticed by The Three O’Clock Club, who managed to persuade her to do a repeat performance when she later ventured back onto the dance floor.
The farm’s ice cream hatch was open and did good business among the adults and children.
Our entrance ticket included a choice of hot dog, slider (cute hamburger), or chicken wings- all with fries- from The Farmer’s Table. The food was great and served up with even better customer service.
I spotted an old mate I hadn’t seen for a long, long time. I’ll be hunted down if I give the full details here (buy me a coffee, and I’ll spill the beans), but he came to the evening party at my wedding years ago and brought a first date. They had such a good night, they kept on dating and are still together 21 years later- and were there last night with their two children.
See, it’s all about how you make people feel at an event.
Marie Boycott, co-owner of Kilted Dragon Distillery in Cwmbran, said: “It’s been really good, some really good feedback, good food, definitely good drinks. I really like the vibe, and we’ve been asked to do more, so I think that’s a success.”
She launched the business in 2025 with her husband, Jamie, who said their first year had been “bonkers.”
He told Cwmbran Life: “It’s been a whirlwind, but we’ve loved every minute of it. It’s a learning curve. I wouldn’t change it for the world though, I really wouldn’t, it’s wicked.”
