Watkins and Oliver on stage at Crow Fest

Watkins and Oliver were first up on the Crowfest stage on Saturday 19 July 2025.

One of them praised the party people for being first on the ‘dance floor’ in front of the stage saying: “You’ve been in Spoons since 9am, haven’t you? You’re my kind of people”, before getting into the easy listening – ‘Rock Me Momme like a Wagon Wheel.”

Nice touch boys. Let’s not forget where this world-famous chocolate treat is made. If the gentle wind keeping us cool that afternoon was blowing in the right direction, I reckon the staff on the afternoon shift in the Llantarnam factory would have heard them performing ‘Rock Me Momme Like a Wagon Wheel.’

The duo told me in a recent interview that they do write and perform their own individual songs, but today it was all about laid-back covers that we all knew – but all with the Watkins and Oliver twist.

Before ‘Call Me When You Need Me’ got underway, they said: “This is our version of this old song. When you hear it, you’ll go ‘oh yeah’.”

One joked: “When I was about eight, I used to have sports day here, running around this track, and now at 38 I’m here. Life is mad, you know. A deep moment there.”
