The first team at Cwmbran RFC started the 2018/19 season in Division One East for the very first time. A fan spotted that every player on the pitch for the match against Hartridge RFC had come through the club’s junior and youth teams.

Llanyrafon AFC Under 7’s is entering the new season in style after  recruitment specialists Acorn gave the players brand new rain jackets for the coming winter weather.

The 20th Abergavenny Food Festival took place over the weekend (15/16 September). The town is just 13 minutes on the train from Cwmbran and yet I’m ashamed to say it was my first ‘proper’ visit.

CWMBRAN is to help host the world’s biggest youth film festival when it returns to Wales this year. Almost 45,000 free cinema tickets are up for grabs for primary and secondary school pupils throughout Wales. The festival runs from 7 to 23 November.

£1,000 was raised at a netball tournament at Cwmbran Stadium held in memory of a player who passed away in May 2018 from a brain tumour.

Cwmbran’s Dave Phillips teamed up with Hazel Chaisty to take Bronze in the Recurve Open Mixed Team event at the European Para-Archery Championships in Pilsen, Czech Republic.

This year’s line up for the 20th Abergavenny Food Festival has been announced. The festival runs over the weekend of 15/16 September.

The Royal Air Force celebrated its 100th birthday on 1 April 2018. Three Tokens are touring the country and being displayed at every RAFA club. A Token has arrived in Cwmbran for members of the public to see.
