Film crews making Generation Z for Channel 4 have set up sets on two large sites in Cwmbran.

The crew have built a military-style camp behind fences on the field by the White Hut in Coed Eva. And the car park at Cwmbran High School is packed with film vehicles. Generation Z is a six-part dark comedy satire series written and directed by Ben Wheatley. It’s described it as “a coming-of-age parable for our very strange times – cut with a heavy dose of outlandish gore”.

A letter to residents near the White Hut sayd the shoot day will be on Friday 3 November from 12pm to midnight. They will be using special effects like smoke and lights. The letters says the production company has been given permission by Torfaen Council for occasional traffic control measures on Hollybush Way. This will involve traffic being stopped for short times to allow film vehicles, deliveries and the cast to safely access the set.

In early October, the crew used Fairwater Shops as a shopping centre in the fictional town of Dambury. Last week the crew and cast were spotted filming at the former Llanyrafon Care Home.
