The organisers behind the new Curious Community say they were “blown away” by the response to their first event – and are now preparing for their second gathering later this month.

More than 60 people attended the launch event at the Parkway Hotel in Cwmbran, which brought together founders, leaders and doers from across business, public services and the wider community.

The second event is on Tuesday 21 April at 5pm in the Parkway Hotel- Link for free tickets below.

Co‑organiser Mark Waite told Cwmbran Life: “We’ve been blown away by the response to our first gathering of the Curious Community. With over sixty people in the room the energy, curiosity, and sense of community was palpable. What started off as a crazy idea to build a movement of like‑minded people has now come to life and we’re excited to see where this can go.

“The feedback has been fantastic across the board, from businesspeople to public sector leaders alike. I think we’ve really struck a chord. We’re on a mission to create a community where founders, leaders and doers gather in the pursuit of building better businesses — powered by people, driven by purpose and rooted in place.

“The curiosity continues this month with our ‘Medtech Musings’ gathering, as we explore the business of healthcare and how we close the gap between innovation and implementation. Healthcare affects us all so we’re expecting this to create a lot of discussion.

“So, if you’re building, backing or implementing change in healthcare, or even a patient of a health system under increasing pressure and curious about how ideas become impact – you’ll want to be in the room. Because we believe that where curiosity leads, opportunity follows.”

Medtech Musings

The topic of the next event is ‘Medtech Musings’. It will explore the business of healthcare and the challenge of turning innovation into real‑world impact. Organisers say they expect lively discussion from anyone involved in — or affected by — the health system, from innovators and NHS leaders to patients curious about how ideas become action.

Three speakers will share their perspectives:

  • Sabih Chaudhry, CEO & Founder of Afon Technology – innovating in non‑invasive glucose monitoring
  • Dale Evans, Aneurin Bevan University Health Board – turning innovation into everyday NHS practice
  • Tom Powell, Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board – driving sustainable change and innovation in healthcare
