The free montly meet up- the Curious Community – is inviting people to take a much‑needed breather this month as their next gathering turns its attention to wellness – and how looking after ourselves shapes our personal lives, social connections and even the way we work.

The event takes place on Tuesday 18 August from 5pm to 6.30pm at the Parkway Hotel.

The evening features Dr Lisa Thomas‑Emrus, an NHS GP, Lifestyle & Longevity Medicine Doctor and founder of The Calm Belly Method.

At Curious Community, she’ll lead an interactive demonstration exploring the connection between mind and body — and why breathing is one of the most overlooked tools we have to influence how we think, feel and perform.

Co‑founder Mark Waite says the group has once again been surprised by the momentum behind their meet‑ups.

He said: “Sorry, we were wrong! When we launched Curious Community, we thought we’d run five gatherings and then take a breather. That was the plan anyway. But we underestimated what happens when you bring curious people together. The conversations grew, the community grew and our thinking changed.

“Compound curiosity is a powerful force, so instead of stopping after five, we found ourselves planning number six. But we’ll still be taking a much‑needed breather, quite literally! This month we’re wondering about wellness with Dr Lisa Thomas‑Emrus. Come and take a breather with us.”

The group is also celebrating its six‑month milestone, with support from Springboard Business Innovation Centre, who are providing food and drink at this month’s event.

Organisers say the September gathering will explore how wellness affects every part of life – from the way we think and feel to how we show up in our relationships and workplaces.

With many people juggling busy schedules, they hope the session will offer simple, practical ways to pause, de‑busy the mind, recharge the body and re‑energise the connections that matter most.
