A fun football match in Cwmbran between friends raised £395 for Tidy Butt, a local mental health charity.

The annual game between ‘Croesy’ and a ‘World 11’ started five years ago and takes place over Christmas.

Many of the players have been friends since school and decided to organise an annual get-together for a laugh and to support a good cause.

In previous years, they’ve supported Mind and Andy’s Man Club. The latest clash took place on Croesyceliog Athletic FC’s ground at The Dyke, off Raglan Court on 27 December 2025.

Croesy won 6-3 and is currently led by the World 11, who are 3-2 up. The match organisers thanked a few local businesses and organisers who helped them out.

  • Mount Pleasant Inn in Old Cwmbran who served up sausage, chip and curry to players after the match.
  • Michael Gwilliam from Croesyceiliog Athletic, who allowed them to use their pitch, provided equipment, kits and a match ball for free.
  • The ‘Cardy Boys’, a new Pokémon card business, who made a donation.
