A Cwmbran Life reader was shocked to see these 4x4s on the mountain on a Sunday morning in February.

He said: “I saw them accessing Twmbarlwm ridge via the lane adjacent to the Henllys Village Nursery on Sunday morning at 10am. When my friend and I got up onto the ridge, we found  they had gone down the wettest, muddiest track and caused the damage shown in the photos. This damage was all the way along adjacent to the dry stone towards Risca.

“A work colleague of mine who was out with friends on their mountain bikes said they caused extensive damage at the Risca end of the track, and when questioned whether they should be up on the ridge just shrugged and drove off! By the way, these weren’t kids, they were all middle aged men and one woman drivers.”
