Industrial action reached day four today at Cwmbran's Stagecoach South Wales depot

The Stagecoach South Wales strike reached day four today. Drivers protested outside their depot in Cwmbran a day after refusing an increased pay offer.

Cwmbran Life spoke to a group of Megabus drivers. Megabus is part of the Stagecoach Group and its drivers in South Wales are also paid £9.50 an hour.

Andy one of the drivers said: “It’s not just service drivers who are affected, it’s Megabus drivers as well.” He spoke about how when he passes his bus over to a driver in Bristol, that driver is paid £13 an hour and in London drivers are paid £17 an hour.

Andy said: “We get paid a massive difference in pay for doing exactly the same job. Why? You ask people in management, they say ‘it’s because you’re Cwmbran’, that’s it. Every single person here gets paid less than every service driver in Bristol, every service driver in Cardiff, every service driver in London. We all get paid less and all we want is a small increase in money to support our families.”
