Are you missing your weekend fix of rugby since Wales became Six Nations Champions 2019? Grassroots junior rugby is thriving. It’s free to watch and loads of fun with some very entertaing rugby on display.

Girling RFC run three teams at mini and junior level- under 7s, under 8s and under 9s. Their success is down to dedicated coaches, enthusiastic players and supportive parents.

On Sunday 7 April Cwmbran Life was invited along to spend a few hours in and around the teams.

When do Girling RFC mini and junior rugby teams train?

Training is every Wednesday from 6.30pm to 7.30pm. New players always welcome.

Where do Girling RFC play rugby in Cwmbran?

The nearest landmark is the Olive Tree club off Edlogan Way in Croesyceiliog. Follow the footpath that runs next to the Afon Lwyd and sports fields for about five minutes. Their pitches are on the right. If it’s training night or matchday you will see the players in their boots.
