Two areas of Cwmbran woodland owned by Bron Afon Community Housing have received National Forest for Wales Status.

Olway Close and Paddock Rise in Llanyrafon and the area known as the ‘Greenmeadow ravine’ next to Mere Path, are part of 27 woodland sites recently announced by the Welsh Government to become part of the growing National Forest for Wales, which runs throughout the country.

Simon Morgan, places and spaces team manager at Bron Afon, said: “We are so proud these sites are getting this recognition from Welsh Government. We nominated them to become part of the National Forest for Wales network because not only do they improve the quality of our landscape and play a part in reducing climate
change, they also provide habitats for wildlife and are good for our physical and mental wellbeing.

“We hope people in our communities will enjoy using the woodlands for years to come.”
