“A little family who all look out for each other.” That’s how a resident described Trostrey retirement housing complex today as it celebrated its 50th birthday.

Around 23 people live in the scheme on the Hollybush estate. It was officially opened on 12 April 1976.

Guests, including representatives from Bron Afon and local councillors, gathered this afternoon in the communal lounge to mark the special anniversary. A display board was packed with photos taken by residents at social events and parties over the years.

Thanks to Mandy Jones, who lives in Trostrey with her husband Martin, for the quote. A photo in the gallery shows the couple standing by the original commemorative plaque on the lounge’s exterior wall.
