A reminder of the timings for the Remembrance Sunday parade taking place this morning across Torfaen.
Some will involve temporary road closures, so if you’re travelling this morning, please check the routes. The national two-minute silence is at 11am.
Cllr Gaynor James, Torfaen Council’s armed forces champion, said: “Remembrance is a time for reflection, gratitude and unity. These parades and services are a powerful way for our communities to come together and honour the sacrifices made by so many.”
Blaenavon – 10.40am – Parade will leave the Top Car Park, marching via Broad Street and Ivor Street to the Cenotaph. 11am – wreath laying and service at the Cenotaph.
Cwmbran – 10.20am – Parade will assemble on Clomendy Road/ Wesley Street and then march through onto Cocker Avenue to Cwmbran Park for the Service of Remembrance in Cwmbran Park at 10.50am
New Inn – 10am – Parade will assemble at St Mary’s Church Hall, The Highway, New Inn and move off to St Mary’s Church for church service.
Pontnewydd – 10.25am – The parade will assemble next to the Ladywell housing complex on Commercial Street, Pontnewydd. The parade will follow Richmond Road to the Cenotaph for wreath laying at 11am. Following the service, the parade will move off via Lowlands Road and Richmond Road, turning left onto Station Road and ending just before the junction of Ty Mynydd Road.
vPontypool – 11.45am – parade assembles on Commercial Street, Pontypool Town Centre and moves off to Pontypool Park Memorial Gates for a service and wreath laying at 12pm.
