The Disability Advice Project (DAP) in Cwmbran has launched a new weekly hub where people can drop-in and ask questions and get support.

Torfaen MP Nick Thomas-Symonds visited their office to find out more about the new session that aims to give disabled people, those with a long-term illness, and carers the confidence to claim the benefits and support they are entitled to.

The weekly hub

Every Friday morning, from 10am – 12pm, people can now go to DAP’s office for support on
disability issues. They can make use of DAP’s facilities including Wi-Fi, computers and printer.

Nick Thomas-Symonds said: “I was delighted to visit the Disability Advice Project to see how they are
supporting disabled people across Torfaen. I would like to thank them for the incredible work they
do. It was fantastic to hear of The Friday Hub which will enable people to just drop-in with questions,
on everything from benefit claims, to care plans and home adaptations. DAP has a very experienced
team, and this will be a fantastic service for our community.”

Amy Watkins, Information Officer at Disability Advice Project, said: “At the Friday Hub, our friendly
advisers will be on hand to help find answers and empower people. We aim to give people the
confidence to make their own claims, with support if needed.”

There is no need to book, but personal appointments can be arranged if you need help
filling in forms and completing claims.

DAP’s accessible office is on Avondale Business Park, off Avondale Road, in Cwmbran.
