Test advice for people with Covid-19 symptoms

People with symptoms of Covid-19 in Wales are being reminded that they must book a Covid-19 test with their health board

The call has been made following the increasing numbers of the Delta Covid-19 variant across Wales, including the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board area.

Book a Covid-19 test

People with Covid-19 symptoms should not use a Lateral Flow home testing kit, but instead book a test at one of their testing centres by either ringing 119 or booking at online at gov.uk.

The individual and household that they live with will need to self-isolate for ten days unless the result comes back negative.

Peter Carr, Executive Director of Therapies & Health Science said: “I would like to remind people that Lateral Flow home tests must only be used if a person is not symptomatic. We know that home DIY tests may not provide an accurate result to people with Covid-19 symptoms, so it’s really important that those with symptoms receive a test at one of our testing centres to get an accurate result and to help stop the spread of the virus.”
