Torfaen boxers enjoyed a big day at the Minors & Schools Welsh Boxing Championships in Cardiff on Sunday 17 May, with several young fighters winning national titles and others putting in strong performances at the Sport Wales National Centre.

The event was organised by the Welsh Amateur Boxing Association.

Kaiden Robinson – Welsh Champion

Pontnewynydd ABC’s Kaiden Robinson is the new Male 40-42kg Welsh Boxing Champion. He beat Vinnie Trotman of Premier ABC in yesterday’s final. Kaiden was presented with his Welsh vest and medal by Baroness Tanni Grey‑Thompson, the former multi‑gold‑medal Paralympic champion.

Bobby Bramwell – Third Welsh title

Torfaen Warriors boxer Bobby Bramwell claimed his third Welsh title. He reached the final of the Male A 40-42kg category, but his opponent withdrew after failing to make weight. Bobby was called into the ring to receive his Welsh vest.

Myles Taylor – Finalist

Pontypool ABC’s Myles Taylor boxed in the 36-38kg B final, facing Riley Hughes of Dyffryn ABC. Hughes won by unanimous decision. Earlier in May, Myles became a Welsh Mixed Martial Arts youth champion after winning his title in Port Talbot.

Gavin Jones – Split Decision

Pontnewynydd ABC’s Gavin Jones was in the Male B 32-34kg final against Jackson Hatton of Draig Goch ABC. After three 90‑second rounds, Hatton took the win by split decision.

Steele Bowen – Finalist

Pontypool ABC’s Steele Bowen boxed Tyler Davies of Exiles ABC in the Male A 38-40kg Schools final. Davies won by unanimous decision after three competitive rounds.

Joe Mayley – Welsh Champion

Pontnewynydd ABC’s Joe Mayley won the Male B 46-48kg Welsh title with a unanimous points decision over Harry O’Brien of Llanishen ABC.

Malaika Khan – Finalist

Pontypool ABC’s Malaika Khan boxed in the Female B 54-57kg final, facing Lexie‑J Jenkins of Fleur De Lys ABC. Jenkins won the title by unanimous decision.
