Sharkebite Burgers was given the Business of the Year Award at the Cwmbran Community Council’s Community Awards night.
This was read out as Mark ‘Sharkey’ Williams collected the award at the Parkway Hotel on Friday 6 March.
“Sharkbite Burgers isn’t just a restaurant – it’s a hub of community spirit in Cwmbran. At the heart of their business is a passion for giving back: championing local independent businesses, sharing their success, and inspiring the next generation.
“Through social media and local collaborations, they actively promote fellow small businesses, encouraging the community to “support local whenever possible” and creating a network of mutual growth.
“Their generosity extends directly to the community. From free food events and prize giveaways to sponsoring local sports teams, Sharkbite Burgers consistently turns business success into opportunities for inclusion and care.
“The team’s commitment to young people is equally remarkable. At Croesyceiliog School, they ran a live food demonstration, letting students participate in creating one of their signature dishes while learning about hygiene, ingredient traceability, presentation, and creativity.
“They also explored the role of social media in business, inspiring students to see how passion and hard work can open doors. Beyond workshops, they support families with free meals during school holidays, helping children thrive even when structured programmes are unavailable.
“By combining culinary excellence with a genuine commitment to community, Sharkbite Burgers inspires businesses and young people alike. Their work demonstrates that success isn’t just measured in sales it’s measured in impact, generosity, and the positive influence you leave on your community.”
