Dave Mason is starting his 34th year of being a football referee in south Wales. The 65-year-old has no intention of hanging up his red and yellow cards and plans to go on ‘as long as my legs will let me.’ He estimates he has taken charge of over 1,500 games.

Organisers of last night’s Motorsport Open Evening at Newtown Motors said it was attended by around 1,500 to 2,000 car fans. The annual event has grown from around 15 cars on display about ten years ago to last night’s show of 80 cars.

Health Secretary Vaughan Gething AM today cut the first ground on the £350 million building of a new hospital in Llanfrechfa, Cwmbran. He also announced that the new hospital, which has been known as the Specialist and Critical Care Centre (SCCC), would be named ‘The Grange University Hospital’.
