The celebrations were held in the parish hall next to Pur

Children from every year of Our Lady of the Angels RC Primary School put in a fantastic performance last Friday to celebrate the school’s 100th birthday.

Parents, carers, siblings and grandparents crowded into the parish hall for an hour of fun and entertainment.

Each year group took turns to jump on stage dressed in clothes from an era over the last 100 years – and dance and mime to a song from that period. We enjoyed Baby Face (1925), Over the Rainbow (1939), Hand Jive (1958), Monster Mash (1962), Sweet Caroline (1969), It’s Like That (1984) and the Fast Food Song (2003).

Ceri Prosser, headteacher, said: “I’m just privileged to be head of the school right now, today, and to celebrate such a wonderful thing. As Father [Parish Priest: Fr. Daniel Stanton] said at Mass, it’s not just the building that’s 100 years, it’s the fact that we are a community and it’s the faith and the joy and everything that we’ve grown together, celebrating past and future.

“They’ve been looking forward to it [doing the show] for a long time. It’s a lovely way to end the term.”
