Isobel is a year five pupil at Llanyrafon Primary School. Here she writes about her love of swimming.

“My name is Isobel and this is my swimming life. I began swimming when I was just eight months old. My dad took me to lessons every week. Ever since I have loved swimming. Once I had completed all my Nofio stages I was able to join Torfaen Dolphins.

“I currently train five times a week at either Pontypool or Fairwater Leisure Centre. Competitive swimming began when I was eight at the Club Championships and I now regularly take part in swimming events. I have competed in the Wyvern League Competition where I helped my team win the overall Wyvern Trophy. I currently have 17 gold medals and four silver medals from competitions in Cardiff Long Course, Neath Open, Club Championships and several other events.

“I won the pentathlon in both Cardiff and Neath. This means I was the fastest swimmer overall in 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke, 50m Butterfly, 50m breaststroke and 200m individual medley. In the current Welsh swimming rankings I am number one in the 100m Freestyle, 50m freestyle, 50m butterfly, 100 individual medley and 200m individual medley. I am second in the backstroke and third in the breaststroke.

“My dream is to become an Olympic swimmer. I hope that if I continue to work hard and listen to my coaches and try my best, that I could achieve my dream.”
