More than 700 children have taken part in a fun-filled half-term week with Torfaen Play Service.

Around 100 playworkers and volunteers delivered a range of play-based activities across multiple provisions, which saw children take part in arts and crafts, games, sports, swimming, talent shows and more.

Natalie Noltey, whose children Ella-Marie, Lylla-Grace and Alfie have been accessing the play service for several years, says she would be lost without it.

“Having a little one who needs that extra help, time and care, it’s reassuring to know that the service provided by Torfaen Play adapts to all my children’s needs, likes and capabilities. I’m never in doubt that each member of the Torfaen Play goes above and beyond.

“Full of fun and laughter, my children really thrive at the sessions, and they can’t wait to tell me what they have done at pick up time. My eldest two have been attending the mindfulness club and it’s amazing how much they enjoy it and have learnt new techniques.”

Children who attended the wellbeing camps at primary schools across the borough, received a free packed lunch and snacks throughout the day, all provided by Torfaen Catering.

Children are allocated a space at the wellbeing camps through their school or from parents expressing an interest via Torfaen Plays’ social media channels, all on a first come first served basis.

Specialist play and respite sessions were also delivered to more than 80 children with disabilities.
