Jayne Watkins

Jayne was asked to answer this question- You should vote for me in the Fairwater election because– and this is her answer

My name is Jayne Watkins and I am asking you to vote for me in the local government elections. Working alongside my Labour colleague Rose Seabourne, we will always listen to the people of Fairwater and respect the ideas that they have or the issues they are dealing with

I have always enjoyed working with people, spending time talking with parents, children and young people to understand the issues they face and helping them access the right assistance or support. Education is also something that is very important to me having spent the last 17 working with children with Special Educational Needs.

Seven years ago I faced serious health issues which have made me very aware of the daily challenges faced by people with disabilities. If elected, I will use my time as a councillor championing any proposals that will ease these challenges and create a more level playing field for everyone in the community.

I’m proud of the way our Labour council has stepped in to support vulnerable residents over the past couple of years, helping those caught short by the Tory government’s Universal Credit cuts, and funding food deliveries throughout lockdown. If elected, I promise to work with colleagues to keep these schemes going for as long as they are needed.

As part of a Labour run council I and Rose would ensure your voice is always heard so vote
for us on May 5 th .
