An invoice for three speed indicator devices has not been paid by Henllys Community Council as one of them is faulty.

In September 2022, community councillors agreed to pay £11,496 (plus VAT) for the three devices to be installed at locations along Henllys Way. They were installed earlier this year. The signs flash red with a ‘sad face’ if drivers are going over 30mph and flash green with a ‘smiley face’ if drivers are doing 30mph or less.  At this week’s monthly meeting in the village hall, councilllors were told that a long-standing fault on the sign near the junction of Llys Gwyrdd with Henllys Way had not been fixed after making a request to the county council’s highways team. The council clerk said they had received the invoice but won’t pay it until they have reassurance it’s working properly and are given answers to their questions about ongoing maintenance.

The other two devices are:

  • Near the entrance to Pensarn Way just as you come out of the Bettws lanes
  • On the stretch near Henllys Church in Wales school
