A Cwmbran mum is “bursting with pride” after her daughter became a double gold Welsh champion in taekwondo.

Grace Adam, 14, a year nine pupil at Croesyceilog School, is a member of Cwmbran TAGB and trains at Cwmbran Stadium, Pontypool Active Living Centre and Fairwater Leisure Centre.

She recently competed in the championships at Cardiff Metropolitan University’s Cyncoed Campus.

Nicola Jones, her mum, said: “She won individual gold for Sparring and gold for tag team.

“Early in the year, she won gold at the English Championships, which was held in Worcester University. In July, she will compete at the World’s, which will be held in Glasgow.

“Seeing her win was so exciting, however it was her sportsmanship which was noted. She loaned her gloves to another competitor, and the referee, when she had won gold, said ‘not only are you an exceptional fighter, but you have shown amazing sportsmanship’. I could burst with pride, hours of training and hard work is showing in her results.”
