Pub pool teams across Cwmbran are holding a minute’s applause before their league games on Wednesday  this week to celebrate the life of Tony Bielski.

Tony was chairman of the Cwmbran & District Pool League and died last Wednesday after playing a match for the Top Bridge against Greenlawn Club. He won the deciding frame to beat them 6-4

The popular 62-year-old was going home  with his wife, Chris and two friends when he suddenly stopped talking and became unresponsive.

Their car pulled into the car park of the Ashbridge on Avondale Road and an ambulance was called. Paramedics used a defibrillator and raced him to the Royal Gwent hospital but he later died.

A message on the homepage of  the Cwmbran & District Pool League says:

As a mark of respect to Tony No games to be cancelled. Its not what he would have wanted. I know it will be especially tough tonight and Wednesday, but remember the good times. Thank you all for your support during this very tough time.

There are some lovely compliments to him on the Welsh Pool Association website forum. In the current Division One Leading Players Top Bridge B Team he tops the table.  He also used to play pool for the RAFA club.

Tony is survived by his wife Chris, two sons Sean and Leigh, two daughters, Donna and Sam, and ten grandchildren.
