Here are four of the Cwmbran men playing in a world record attempt for the longest played rugby match. The match kicks off today in Leicester and will raise money for Scotty’s Little Soldiers, a charity that supports men and women killed while serving in the British Armed Forces.

The match was organised to honour Corporal Michael Thacker, from Cwmbran, who was killed in 2012, while serving in Helmand Province. He played for Cwmbran RFC.

The teams plan to play for 25 hours and set a new world record. So far an incredible £46,000 has been raised in sponsorship.
