A Cwmbran man lost his wedding ring while walking his dog in the woods above Thornhill. After two weeks of searching and worrying Richard Beale mentioned his bad luck to Paul Williams, a community caretaker with Bron Afon.

Paul used his local contacts to borrow a metal detector from the Ancient Cwmbran Society and headed for the woods. After just 15 minutes his gadget started beeping and the lost ring was discovered.

Richard said: “I was well chuffed and over the moon. I gave him a hug.”
