A Cwmbran business has become the latest organisation in Torfaen to sign up to be a ‘Litter Free Zone’.
Staff at Saunders Valve now carry out fortnightly litter picks on Grange Road and the parkland along Llanfrechfa Way.
Alicia Newman, from Crane ChemPharma and Energy which owns the factory, said: “As a business we are always looking at ways to give back to the community, promote sustainability and help create a greener environment, particularly in the spaces surrounding our new facility.
“We also value the importance of employee wellbeing. Being out in the fresh air and interacting with colleagues that you may not normally spend time with is a great way of building relationships and giving your mind a rest from your day to day work.”
Saunders Valves is the second business in Torfaen to register with Keep Wales Tidy and Torfaen Council as a ‘Litter Free Zone‘.
They join Fox Group in Cwmbran, Torfaen Council’s Celt Plus team and Croesyceiliog, Coed Eva and Blenheim Road primary schools, who have all signed up as ‘Litter Free Zones’.
‘Litter Free Zones’ is a Keep Wales Tidy initiative, which encourages businesses to keep their local areas free of litter. They provide resources so businesses can publicise their commitment to tackling litter and upload their details to a map of Litter Free Zones.
