A road sign- Llantarnam Road

An election may be held in Llantarnam to replace a councillor who resigned last month.

Nick Jones was elected as an independent councillor in May’s county council elections. A recent council report said he stood down on 14 November with ‘immediate effect’.

Now Torfaen Council has posted a notice of election for the Ward.

Candidates who wish to stand have until 4pm on Friday 6 January 2023 to fill in a nomination form and return it to Torfaen Council. Forms are available from the Civic Centre in Pontypool or the Electoral Commission’s website.

If an election is contested the poll will take place on Thursday 2 February 2023 between 7am – 10pm.
