Councillors from Torfaen’s licensing committee were told about investigations by the team into ‘animal establishments’.

It was part of the licensing team’s update on their work from April 2023 to the end of June 2023. They followed up a complaint that alleged that someone was boarding animals without a licence. Officers found that an application for the correct licence had been made. They told the applicant that if illegal boarding had taken place this could affect the decision on whether or not to approve the application. The applicant denied that she had boarded any animals.

Officers contacted someone who was alleged to have been illegally breeding dogs. An application for a licence has now been received by the team.
