The Outstanding Long Service to the Community award was given to CADESA at Cwmbran Community Council’s Community Awards evening.
This is what guests at the Parkway Hotel event in early March were told about the group.
“For many years, CADESA has provided a consistent, welcoming and safe space for ex-service personnel from all branches of the Armed Forces. Through regular weekly meetings, veterans are able to come together, share experiences and rebuild the camaraderie so often missed after leaving military service. That continuity and reliability have been central to its lasting impact.
“CADESA’s work goes far beyond social gatherings. The association plays a vital role in reducing isolation, improving wellbeing and offering trusted peer support to former service men and women adjusting to civilian life. It has created an environment built on understanding, respect and shared experience, something only years of dedication can achieve.
“Alongside weekly meetings, CADESA organises trips, activities and community engagement opportunities, and takes part in commemorative events to ensure service and sacrifice are honoured locally. As a valued part of the Armed Forces support network, including links with the Torfaen Armed Forces Community Covenant, CADESA has earned deep trust within the veteran community.
“Its long-standing commitment, consistent care and positive impact have created a true lifeline for veterans in Cwmbran.”
