Enjoy your retirement Dale Philpott. The 60-year-old has worked as a caretaker at Abersychan School since 1982, taking on the role after his dad left the job.
Staff marked Dale’s last day during the first week of May with a celebratory afternoon tea, sharing memories and presenting Dale, a lifelong Pooler fan, with a Grogg figurine of the famous Pontypool front row, among other gifts.
Dale, a former pupil, said: “I feel a massive part of the school and I’ve met some of the most amazing people along the way. It’s more than just a job; it has become a major part of my life and made me who I am.”
Headteacher Rhodri Thomas, said: “He always greets staff early in the mornings with a welcoming smile and I’ve personally enjoyed many conversations about his beloved Pontypool RFC. The governors, staff and students at Abersychan School wish him a long and happy retirement.”
