Two mums whose sons were killed while serving in Afghanistan took part in a sponsored cycle ride in Cwmbran town centre.
Sarah Adams MBE, mum of Private James Prosser, joined Moira Adams, mum of Private Kyle John Adams on Saturday 17 October, as part of the campaign to raise money for a memorial area to the fallen near Llantarnam Grange.
Sarah told Cwmbran Life: “It went really well, so many kind people showing support, and I loved it when the youngster came up too asking about it and one boy gave me his last 80p.
“I did try not to take it bless him but he insisted. The veterans are all so dedicated and it means so much to me. Yesterday (Friday) was 17 years from James’ funeral and it just feels so raw but the kindness and support just keeps you going and helps you smile when sometimes you just don’t want to. Veterans do that so well.
In a Facebook post, Moira said: “John and I were just a few of many who did some cycling today, including Kyle’s sisters and niece along with Sarah Adams, James Prosser’s Mum and a few veterans too. Ut was so heartwarming to see such an interest in the Mural and what we were raising awareness and funds for.
“Thank you to everyone who stopped to chat and donated, every penny is so much appreciated.”
