Volunteers have started creating a community wildlife garden in Pontnewydd Park.
The Friends of Pontnewydd Park were awarded £15,000 from the National Lottery Communities Fund.
The group of all ages cleared an area in the rose garden section of the park on Saturday 12 September as plans for the new layout started to take shape. A digger removed the old patio pathway slabs, ready for a new route around the garden.
The plans include a viewing spot where visitors can look out for wildlife and insects enjoying a new bee-friendly wildflower area.
