It was lovely to see June and Eric Brann at Cwmbran Parkrun on Saturday 12 September 2026.
The photo below is of June, 82, ringing the bell at Velindre Cancer Centre in Cardiff on Wednesday 26 August after a course of radiotherapy.
I bumped into the couple the next day, when she told me this news. I was curious when I’d see them again at Cwmbran Boating Lake.
She and Eric, also 82, completed the 5km route. It was June’s 246th parkrun and Eric’s 387th.
She started running at 72.
June said the last time she was in hospital was 55 years ago for the birth of her daughter. They’re still waiting for some test results, and she’ll undergo regular checks.
It was great to chat to them- both in good humour as usual. They first featured on Cwmbran Life in March 2024 when they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at Parkrun.
