Armed Forces Day at Cwmbran Community Council on 26 June 2026

A service was held in Cwmbran on Friday 26 June to mark Armed Forces Day.

The annual event is held to commemorate the service of men and women in the British Armed Forces. Veterans, members of the Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers (Militia) , and guests gathered outside Cwmbran Community Council shortly before 10am.

The service was opened by Councillor Gareth Lloyd‑Tolman, chair of Cwmbran Community Council, who welcomed guests. Reverend Canon Brian Pippen gave the opening prayer and reflection. Cllr Lloyd‑Tolman read Romans 8.35–39 from the Scriptures.

The flags were raised by members of Cwmbran and District Ex-Services Association, and this was followed by a minute’s silence. The group sang ‘Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah’ and the national anthems.
