Nationwide has partnered with Dementia UK to offer free, specialist dementia support at selected branches – including its sites in Cwmbran and Pontypool.

Families affected by dementia can now access advice and guidance from an Admiral Nurse, without needing to be a Nationwide customer.

Appointments can be booked in advance or accessed via walk-in, subject to availability.

The service is part of Nationwide’s Fairer Futures initiative and aims to provide life-changing support to those navigating the challenges of dementia.

To find out more or book an appointment, visit the Dementia UK website or speak to a member of staff at the branch.

The building society recently announced the ‘Nationwide’s Branch Promise’– a commitment to keep every branch across the UK open until at least the start of 2030.

Nick Thomas-Symonds, MP for Torfaen, recently visited the Pontypool branch.

He said: High Street banking is crucial for so many people across Torfaen, and when I met with Nationwide in June last year, I stressed the importance of their presence in our towns, and their services that constituents rely on.

“They provide vital access to in-person banking, and wider support services for vulnerable customers.

‘At least 2030’

“I’m delighted they have committed to keeping their branches open in Pontypool and Cwmbran until at least 2030, and I’m sure the news will be warmly welcomed by their customers.”

Sam Croft, branch manager at Nationwide in Pontypool, said: “Face-to-face service on the high street is important to protect, and thanks to our branch promise, our customers in Torfaen – and across Britain – can be confident that they can bank with us in whichever way they choose.”
