Torfaen’s annual Santa Appeal has celebrated another outstanding year, with thousands of gifts donated to support children and young people across the borough.
More than 300 children and teenagers who would otherwise have gone without received presents in time for Christmas, thanks to the generosity of local residents, community groups and businesses.
The appeal, now in its 20th year, collects gifts and food donations for children supported by the council’s Children’s Services, Torfaen Young People’s Support Service (TYPSS) and Families First teams.
The 2025 Christmas contributions also funded 25 hampers filled with food and home essentials, along with 60 pre‑made hampers for young people aged 15 and over who are living independently.
Cllr Richard Clark, Torfaen Council’s executive member for children, families and education, said: “I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our local residents and businesses who have supported this year’s appeal so generously. Your kindness ensures that hundreds of children and young people will enjoy a brighter Christmas.
“A special thank you also goes to the fantastic range of community hubs that acted as donation points, making it easier for people to contribute. This collective effort truly shows the strength of our community spirit.”
‘Incredible generosity’
Abigail Vaughan, team manager for children and family services, added: “On behalf of our social workers and all the children and young people who’ll receive gifts through the Santa Appeal, I’d like to thank the public for their incredible generosity.
“Your kindness brings joy and makes a real difference to families during a challenging time of year. We are truly grateful for your support in making Christmas special.”
