A sell-out crowd of 1,500 enjoyed last weekend’s laser display at Ysgol Panteg and raised thousands of pounds for the school.

This was the second year that Ffrindiau Panteg PTA had organised the fundraising event

Cathy Mogg, chair of the school’s PTA, told Cwmbran Life: “The event pulled in a fantastic crowd of 1,500 people. It felt like the whole community came out to enjoy the show – pupils, parents, grandparents, friends, and neighbours – all wrapped up warm and ready for a great evening.

“We managed to raise an incredible £6,750. All the money will go straight back into the school to help build new outdoor learning spaces for our pupils – so the impact of this one evening will be felt for years to come.

‘Incredible’

“The laser display itself was incredible. Set to a playlist of popular songs chosen by pupils and parents, it had everyone dancing and singing along.

“Two big favourites on the night were ‘Soda Pop’ and ‘Golden’ – when those tracks came on, the crowd went absolutely wild!

“What really made the night special, though, wasn’t just the lights (although they were amazing) – it was the welcoming, inclusive atmosphere. Everyone was made to feel part of the fun. We’ve really tried to be accessible so all members of the community can join in and enjoy the show together.”

Kayleigh Bainton attended the event and kindly allowed Cwmbran Life to quote her post. She said: “Having kids on the spectrum who aren’t big fans of fireworks, this event was amazing way to start spooky season for us. Yes, it rained but that added to the magic of the lasers.

“Ysgol Panteg, thank you for an amazing evening, and we will definitely be back next yea,r and we will be bringing friends.”

‘Best organised event’

Cathy added: “The community’s response has been so supportive and positive, people recognised all the organisation and hard work that went into keeping the event running smoothly and safely.

“We were told by vendors our show was the best organised event they’d been to, and that is thanks to the team at Ysgol Panteg and the Security team at Comet Security.

“Huge thanks to the PTA, the volunteers, staff, sponsors, vendors, and everyone who came along and supported. It just goes to show what we can achieve when we come together as a community.

“Special thanks to A.P Waters, Noel Fitzpatrick Civil Engineering, Prosteel Engineering, the WRI group, VA Peterson and G2C Conveyancing.”
