Cwmbran Parkrun will be extra special for one couple this week.
Emma Bagley and Leonie Roberts are taking part in the weekly 5km run at Cwmbran Boating Lake as usual…but this time it will be hours before they get married.
They are members of Fairwater Runners and regular park runners.
Leonie told Cwmbran Life: “We are going to run the parkrun as usual, but we will be wearing white. Parkrun is a big part of our life. It has been there through thick and thin for Emma for the last 15 years, good times and bad.
“I have been part of Cwmbran parkrun since it started. We try and go every week as runners and volunteers. It is a great initiative to keep people healthy, whether they are running or volunteering.
“Members of our club [Fairwater Runners], family and friends will be taking part as volunteers and runners.”
They are getting married in Usk Registry Office and having a party in the evening. Instead of wedding gifts, they’re asking people to donate to a food bank.
Leonie said they hope to pick up some donations from parkrunners at Cwmbran Boating Lake. If you’re taking part, feel free to take some items along to pass on to Leonie and Emma.
