Volunteers made sure Cwmbran residents who may have spent Christmas Day alone had a fun dinner and company today. Cwmbran Community Centre was opened up for anyone who may have spent the day on their own, is sofa surfing or is homeless.

I popped along this morning at 10.30am to meet the organisers, volunteers and some of the people enjoying the event. The hall was decked out in sparkly decorations and there was a constant buzz of laughter and chat.

It is lovely to think that on Christmas Day there are enough people willing to give up some of their time to organise things like this in Cwmbran.

People have been peeling spuds and carrots and wrapping gifts all week. Donations of food and gifts have overwhelmed the organisers Diane and Tony O’Neill.

Gocompare were just one company who helped out- the Newport-based business donated a huge pile of shaving kits for men and women. Admiral Insurance was another company who gave goodies.

Merry Christmas to everyone who helped out and went along today 🙂
