Pretty Miss celebrated its 65th year in Cwmbran town centre and announced a new name change.
The school uniform, club, sports and workwear supplier was opened by John and Sheila Hurn on 17 November 1960. It’s still run by their daughter and granddaughter, Sally Whitehouse and Lucy Ford, who have renamed the shop as Global Uniform.
They moved to 7-9 The Arcade in January 2023, after 63 years on Caradoc Road.
On Monday 24 November 2025, current and former staff, along with family and friends, M Cwmbran staff, and local business owners, watched Owen Filer, Wales’ oldest man, cut the ribbon to celebrate the new era for the shop.
Lucy told the guest: “Sixty-five years is quite an achievement, in fact it’s a real honour…We’ve matured from being a Pretty Miss into a Global Uniform.”
Owen Filer said: “I declare this business well and truly in business.”
In a lovely link, Mr Filer knew John Hurn before he opened the landmark shop
