The owners of Cwmbran town centre have been given permission to allow a former retail shop to be used as a food and drink outlet.

The unit at 15 North Walk used to be home to Geek Retreat, where customers would go to play board games, console games and trading card games.  It was categorised as Class A1 retail meaning a wide range of retail businesses could trade from there, but would not be allowed to sell hot food.

The change to Class A3 following the application by LCP Group now means businesses that sell food or drink for consumption on or off the premises could open. It’s located in the area of town where a large number of foot outlets are already based including Chopstix Noodle Bar, Rabaiotti’s, Burger King, Subway and McDonalds.

The application said any business that opens there would be allowed to be open from 9am to 11pm, Monday to Sunday
