Police officers are appealing for witnesses to a road traffic collision involving two teenage cyclists in Pontnewydd.

They would like to talk to any motorists who were travelling on, or near Bryn Celyn Road at around 9.45pm on Tuesday 23 May, or anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage.

Police officers and staff from the Welsh Ambulance Service attended the collision that involved a car and two bikes. The cyclists, a 15-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl received minor injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.

The driver reportedly left the scene following the collision, heading towards Maendy Way. The car is believed to be a small white hatchback.

Roads Policing Specialist Operations Inspector Shane Underwood said: “We thank all those who have already contacted us with information, our enquiries are continuing and we still want to speak to any motorists who were travelling on, or near Bryn Celyn Road, at around 9.45pm on Tuesday 23 May, or anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage.
