Torfaen secondary schools to showcase pupils’ talents in new show

Secondary schools in Torfaen are keen to get involved in a Cwmbran’s Got Talent show in 2024, community councillors heard last night.

Cwmbran Community Council’s events and community projects committee met to talk about plans for an event for secondary school pupils to showcase their talents on stage at the Congress Theatre.

Stephanie Kopec, council officer, told the committee she had met with Gwent Music Support and contacted secondary schools throughout the area.

She said: “All feedback has been positive. They want to take part and are happy that we’re moving forward.”

Every school will be able to enter a solo artist and a group. It will be run as a ‘showcase of talents’ rather than a competition.

The event will be held in April during the same week as the community council’s primary school choral festival. Every school taking part in the week’s event will get £250.
