Torfaen Scouts want to become pen pals to residents who are self-isolating

Torfaen Scouts are making a lovely offer to residents in care homes and in the community who are staying inside because of coronavirus.

Care homes across the UK are worried about visitors being a risk to their vulnerable residents. Residents in certains groups are also being advised to ‘social distance‘.

Dee Puckett, the assistant district commissioner for cubs in Torfaen, said the scouts were keen to become pen pals to people who may be feeling isolated.

She said: “If people can message me their first name and address our scout community can write some letters. They hope it will help brighten up other people’s day.

“This may lead to them becoming pen pals. Letter writing could provide a vital part in keeping up community spirits.

“If any individuals or care home residents are self-isolating and would like some support from the scouts they just need to send me a private message on Facebook.”

If you would love a letter from a scout or you know someone, maybe a relative or neighbour who is feeling isolated contact Dee.
