Staff and volunteers are needed to run the popular summer holiday playschemes for children in Torfaen.
During 2022/23 over 3,000 children enjoyed taking part in play sessions from the council-run service. Now they are looking to get the team ready for the summer. There are four roles:
- Volunteers – Young people aged 16+ volunteer and receive £15 a day for food and travel expenses. They need to have DBS check and complete training.
- Playworkers – People aged 18+ plan and run play activities.
- Play support workers – People aged 18+ support children and young people with disabilities and behaviour needs.
- Site supervisors – People aged 18+ lead and coordinate a team of workers and volunteers to run play provisions.
When and where are the playschemes?
They run from Monday 31 July until Thursday 25 August. A training week will take place from Mon 24 July. Across Torfaen there is a mix of open access playschemes, Food and Fun Camps, play and activities camps, play and respite sessions and Play in the Park Sessions.
